In kickboxing, Thai boxing and Muay Thai you kick with your shins and block kicks with them. Shin guards are used for kicking drills with a partner and for sparring, and many clubs require them. Here's what to look out for.

What to look for
- Coverage: kickboxing shin guards usually cover the shin and the top of the foot (the instep).
- Closure: all GLADTS shin guards close with hook-and-loop, so you can adjust the fit.
- Padding: thicker padding gives more cushioning, but also makes a shin guard a little heavier.
Which size do you need?
GLADTS shin guards come in M, L and XL.
- For the Gladiator Star Power shin guards we advise: M up to 170 cm body height, L from 170 to 185 cm and XL over 185 cm.
- For the Classic, Classic Blue and black shin guards you'll find a size chart on the product page.
Not sure? Email us at info@gladts.nl and we will help you choose.
How should shin guards fit?
- The shin guard covers your shin from just below the knee to the ankle, and the foot part covers your instep.
- The straps are firm enough that the shin guard doesn't turn or slide when you kick, but they don't pinch.
- You can still move your foot and ankle freely.

Looking after your shin guards
Let your shin guards air out after training and don't leave them in a closed sports bag.
